SPIN IT from Rain
Topic: CRAFT BOOKS

This year Rain gave me two books for my Bithday, one for basket weaving and this one for spinning using a drop spindle. This book is only about thirty something pages, but it is packed with clear directions on using a spindle, and fun projects. There are directions on how to make and use a CD spindle and one pattern for a bunny bag is made using angora fur directly from the rabbit.

Maybe someday I will move on to one of these.

 Thank you Rain!!

JAPANESE CRAFT BOOK FEVER
Topic: CRAFT BOOKS

I have been seeing doll house miniatures on blogs and Flickr lately so I decided that I would try my hand at it. I went online and purchased ANOTHER great Japanese craft book. ISBN# 4-529-04200-6

When my daughters were younger I put together a dollhouse from a kit, but this time I think I will try one of these diorama type dollhouses. This way I can have Rain hang it on her wall and it isn't a large piece in her bedroom. I get a kick out of how ordinary household objects are used to create minis. There was a site that used disposable creamer containers as lamp shades, or another that used a clear Hershey's syrup cap as a cake dome. So many great links to how to tips and printables.

I think this is going to be fun. :}

Japanese Doll Crafting
Topic: CRAFT BOOKS

My daughter and her friends both online and locally are Pullip Crazy. I decided to give her an early Easter Treat. The book on the left
ISBN# 4-7661-1627-5
has patterns that resemble British Punk Wear. Last night I found myself hand sewing a pleather corset (fetish sexy wear top)
For a doll????
The book on the right
ISBN# 4-7661-1600-3
is more conservative and has simple easy to sew patterns for tops, dresses, and accessories. Both books are great and better than Barbie patterns. Rain (my daughter) can't seem to choose a favorite. I'm so glad that SHE WILL BE DOING THE SEWING.
My eyes can't handle such small pieces.
