ONIGIRI...Rice Balls!!!!
Topic: RECIPES

Click on the image to purchase the rice ball seasoning at one of the best online Asian Markets around.
With the gas prices what they are,it actually costs less for us to have the groceries shipped to our door than it would to drive to the nearest market.
We live in a rural area, so I see myself doing more online shopping in the future. :0)

Instructions to prepare rice ball:
1. Mix one packet Rice Ball seasoning to about 160 grams (5 oz) of hot rice, thoroughly.
2. Mold rice ball with two hands and serve

Ring Cushion
Topic: FUN STUFF

I had seen a similar cushion at Camilla's Blog
and I had always wanted to recreate one for myself.
I wanted to use a smaller Chapstick lip balm cap but I didn't have one around the house, so I used a small lotion bottle cap instead.
HOW TO:
You will need a small thin plastic cap ( lip balm type)
Something metal that can be heated over a flame to melt holes on the cap in order to thread the elastic and thread. ( I used a small scissor, you can use a small screw driver, or small metal crochet needle)
Thin elastic for the band
stuffing for the cushion, thread, and fabric in a circle the size of a jar lid or the size you need to be in proportion to your cap.
Heat your metal object over a flame (It gets hot so hold it with a potholder) and melt holes on the cap so that you can thread your elastic and still have a little space for thread and a needle. Size your ring to fit comfortably and not too tight that it will cut your circulation and turn your finger blue. :0)
Mark the elastic to your size with a pen and either sew together, or knot at each end and cut of the rest.
Gather your fabric circle with a quick in and out gathering stitch, fill with a small ball of fiber fill stuffing (I used a wool pom pom I had) and gather the circle to create the cushion. Keep your thread and needle on after you gather the cushion and attach the cushion to the cap by threading the needle through the same holes as the elastic. Sew the cushion on to the cap using the elastic holes the way you would sew a button by holding it together and sewing through the elastic holes.
You're done!

Money Baskets
Topic: HOLIDAY FUN

I mentioned this to Nicole yesterday that when my daughters were younger we kept my husband's Easter Bunny tradition. We would buy a kite string spool for each of them and tie it to an easter basket away from the girls beds and walk all around the house working backwards leaving the spoon of string at their bedside so they would know that the Easter Bunny had been there. They would wake up and rewind the kite string spool by following the trail to their basket.
Now that they are older, we just give them money and chocolate and call it good.

Pinata Goes to Hawaii for CC Swap on Flickr
Topic: MY SWAPPERY

I have really enjoyed the CC swap because I was able to connect with my swap partner and share ideas and experiences about the swap and life in general. The nicest part about CC Swap to me is that you have the opportunity to not just exchange items but also exchange feelings and ideas and friendship with your swap partner BEFORE they receive something from you. Swap Bot and Swaporama are great swaps, but CC swap seems to put the personal connection before the material connection. Nicole is sending me some things that are part of Hawaiian culture and living in Maine left me pretty limited. I turned to my Hispanic culture for inspiration. After reading her Flickr profile, I decided that I should make something in Red and Pink to resemble a Pi?ata filled with candy and trinkets. I purchased the fish bag pattern at GHEE'S
Hawaii is a six hour time difference, so I'm hoping that she has received it today. I don't pick out great candy, but I was able to find a bag of red Swedish Fish Candy to put inside.
